Welcome to what I hope will become the definitive release by release chronology of IBM 360 Operating systems.
I recently discovered Hercules/390. Having been there during the early 360 days, the ability to IPL and run MVS on my PC is something I'd have never dreamt possible. I realized that much of what I would like to have at 'memory tip' just isn't there any longer. Searching through many archives I couldn't find a complete release by release chronology of IBM 360 operating systems - PCP, DOS, MFT and MVT. I did find Bob Yelavich's web site with an excellent release by release CICS history, and that gave the the push to start this web site.
The primary source for the information I'm interested in collecting, and presenting on the site, was contained in the original IBM Program Announcement "Blue Letters". Unfortunately IBM's Announcement website only contains letters starting in 1982 - well past the 360 days.
Please help.. Please help.. If you have any old P series Blue Letters please share them (scan and e-mail, FAX, snail mail) so that I can update this site. Please contact me via e-mail.
